Humble servant of the Nation

Turnbull’s jagged little pill

Will the last one out of the parliament please remember to turn the pie warmer off at Aussie’s Cafe? The worst thing we can have now is a fire. Although I accept some cynics believe putting the parliament to the cleansing flames might just be our last best shot at good government.

Ten senators have moved along since this parliament commenced, most frogmarched ignominiously from the big red room, told to pack their belongings into two small cardboard boxes, before their parliamentary lanyards were twain in two with a cutlass and escorted to the front door by two burly security guards.

We no longer have a Deputy Prime Minister, or at least we won’t for a month or so. The Senate President, Stephen Parry resigned and shuffled out the door yesterday. And now, the Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg is under a cloud.

This brings about the delicious prospect of wait staff at the parliament sidling up to the Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia with a plate of party pies.

“Hungry, minister?”

“No thanks. I already am one.”

Boom tish.

At larrrrrrrrrrst Labor has found something to wedge the Looters on….CITIZENSHIP. Shorten has said he will have a citizenship review/audit but Malcolm won’t be in it for obvious reasons…of course the hard right (Abbott, Abetz and Andrews) want it because they know it would be the end of Turnbull, the govt and a VERY slim chance for Abbott to be Opposition leader again. They don’t care about losing govt as they all realise the next election is lost anyway ‘so we may as well start again from scratch’. But Oh…Stan as PM would be a disaster. Maybe he can learn on the job as Richo says.

  • Trivalve says:

I’m a bit confused about the Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia. After all, he took the hit but now he’s back, unlike most of the others.

Re Malcolm having the time of his life, surely that would have been when he spent a month with Hugh Hefner on Kerry Packer’s expense account back in the day? I mean, really?

Btw, London to a brick there’s an outfit who have done their homework diligently and know every remaining unmasked suspect in this sorry farce. That’s the meeja.

  • wraith says:

Sorry JtI, last blog @ razor
‘ He’s doing his bit on what is percieved as a conservative blog.’ sic
    .
Um,. since when and in what reality?

    • Boadicea says:

      Apologies JTI
      Wraith:
Chilly and snowing here – so I have a bit of time to do a bit of cut and pasting.
It’s easy enough to ”merrily, merrily, merrily” scroll past Dismayed’s posts. Read them or not. That’s not really the issue.
It’s being verballed that is extremely annoying. I have decided that I am not going to put up with it. But I shall not leave – I’ll just give it back. I don’t feel comfortable being nasty, but I am not going to be verballed and not retaliate. I think it may have been LouoTod who commented that Dismayed’s verballing was provoking rudeness in others who have previously been polite. I’m afraid he’s right.

Recently Penny pulled him up – and for a while it worked. The blog was pleasant. TBLS returned with a proviso that he would see how things went.
      ”The Bow-Legged Swantoon says:
      OCTOBER 22, 2017 AT 1:01 PM
Strictly dependent on the manners of one or two other contributors, Penn. I don’t need strangers chucking abuse at me and sooking to the teacher when they cop a bit back.”

And then, for no reason at all, we get from Dismayed:
      ” Dismayed says:
      OCTOBER 27, 2017 AT 6:30 PM
ah JB it has be very pleasant with out the 2 eternal victims one has returned the ther will follow suit soon I imagine”

Such an arrogant, expansive remark. Is the blog here for Dismayed’s comfort and opinions? I mean really, what is it with this thing he has about ”victims”. Is one a ”victim” because one has a differing opinion? I don’t get it. I do not feel a ”victim” when I get annoyed by his verballing. I just feel bloody annoyed. As usual he does not name the bloggers who he feels the blog could do without.. It’s an oblique, thinly disguised, annoying remark. I had recently returned after deciding to have a break from it all so I assume one of the eternal victims is me, the other may be Razor or TBLS. Don’t know. That’s not the point.
I think it was JS the other day who remarked that it is difficult to read the jibe and not react. Spot on.

Razor recently remarked that Dutton was a nice bloke out of politics. He is now labelled as ”Duttons mate” – even though I am sure he is not a personal friend of Dutton.
TBLS seems to have gone again. A pity, as his posts are always worth a read – both here and over the wall .

After a bit of light-hearted, silly banter (sometimes it seems necessary to just get silly here) between myself and JB about aircraft seating perks, comes this:
      ”Dismayed says:
      NOVEMBER 2, 2017 AT 10:45 AM
I knew it Yvonne is a misandrist”

Had JB made that remark, I would have laughed and called him a silly old bugger, because JB is funny, witty and cleverly ironic – never nastily vindictive. But coming from Dismayed I just know that I will be labelled as a misandrist from hereonin. Okay take it from whence it comes some might say, But I’m sick of it. It’s deliberately insulting and verballing. He also calls me Yvonne, despite the fact that my blog name is Boadicea. Provocative stuff. Inconsequential you might say, and from anyone else it would be – but not from Dismayed.
The other day it was insinuated by Dismayed that ”some here” – again no names provided – support the odious Malcolm Roberts. And when pulled up by JTI, he back-pedalled quickly and amended ”Roberts ” to One Nation. Like JTI, I can’t think of anyone here who has supported One Nation. Made comments about the party sure, but not supported it.

There are many differing opinions on this blog, Wraith. That’s what it’s all about. And it’s fun. Have a go at politicians and injustices sure, but not personal insults at fellow bloggers, who one knows nothing about, merely because they have a differing opinion. Dismayed does not get ”attacked” – another strange use of that ”word” – he just gets annoyed responses from those ”victims”.

Ah well the sun is out. Time to go out and take pics of a snow covered mountain. Really beautiful!

      • BASSMAN says:

BODHISATTVA:- Gasp! Surpasses anything I have written for word count without a coloured card!

      • Penny says:

Onya Boa, but ( and i’m not trying to be a smartarse here) you do need to ignore those posts from people who really do get to you. I can temember a time ages ago when a post from a lady called Victoria would really get to me, I would be at the gym at times and the whole session would consist of me thinking up my response to her. In the scheme of things it’s really not worth worrying about and you do just need to scroll through the post from people who do piss you off.

      • Wraith says:

My point to Razor was that I don’t see this as a “conservative blog”. We dirty lefties have always been made welcome. It’s a welcoming pub.
        .
All that stuff you just vomitted about Dismayed, had nothing to do with my comment to Razor, its more of your unseemly obsession, I’d rather not go there.

      • wraith says:

Oh and btw, on Swantoon. he got told to pull his head in by JtI after wishing someone’s (cant remember who) family was all dead. Rightly so too, I would have told him to bugger off at that point. So, him worrying about other’s behaviour wont wash with me dear lady.

  • Henry Blofeld says:

“The citizenship cyclone raging through Canberra has developed a second front blowing straight towards Malcolm Turnbull”, so writes the SMH’s astute Mark Kenny, Mr Insider just a short while ago. Turnbull could have used some backbone and stood Joyce and co down but went to water as he always has during his PMship. Malcolm Bligh Turnbull the bell tolls for thee, the sharks are circling big boy! PM Bishop perchance? Or PM Abbott good grief!

    • Boadicea says:

He’s been neatly wedged by Shorten HB. To refuse an audit now makes it seem there is something to hide. As Dwight remarks, Shorten will have probably done his research on his own party and is ready to rock ‘n roll with the numbers!

  • Dwight says:

    Now that’s interesting:

“Bill Shorten backflipped on his opposition to an audit, declaring he was concerned there were cover-ups following the belated resignation of former Senate president Stephen Parry.”

I’m guessing he’s done his own audit and is willing to roll the dice.

  • Milton says:

As they are mulling (hehe) over introducing drug testing for those on the dole I suggest we have drug/alcohol testing for those sitting in the coloured chairs.

    • Dismayed says:

If they test doles recipients they should also test those that receive family tax benefits, child care subsidies, Pensioners, Health insurance subsidy every employee of every company that gets a grant etc. Why just those that are already doing it tough? This is another coalition distraction to further divide the nation and dog whistle up support.

      • Milton says:

except for your last sentence it makes as much sense. all public servants blow into the bag ! and if labor had their way it’d be smokers as well.
labor -the joy police. you may not live longer but it will feel like you have (?ref?)

        • Trivalve says:

Yeah, no-one at the CFMEU smokes. Gospel.

        • Dismayed says:

Milton this is the coalitions policy. Testing of Newstart recipients. You have again exhibited it matters not what the coalition do you will always try to turn it around to somehow the opposition is responsible for what the coalition do. No surprises.

  • Milton says:

On more pressing matters what the hell were Scottish Rugby thinking when they decided to outfit the lads in tartan boxer shorts?? If you can’t play don’t draw attention to yourself is what I say.

  • Tracy says:

I presume we are going to still be paying the pensions to those who were not eligible or do they get away with that as well.
As for Frydenberg different ball game due to the horrors of war and genocide, if the family felt themselves to be stateless at the end of WWII and were accepted into Australia as such it shouldn’t be an issue.

    • Jack The Insider says:

Another question and i think any former MP drawing a pension needs to be audited too.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

Frydenberg was born in 1971. He was required to ensure he is not a citizen of another nation just like everyone else. To be “stateless” is neither here nor there if the nation of a persons origin still considers them a citizen. Malcolm is making emotive mileage on this one case to infer that the whole meme is tawdry and witch hunting.
“Witch hunt”! Bollocks, the hunt is not for witches, even though there are a couple there who are likely moonlighting as test pilots for a broom factory nobody cares about witches. Nice try Malcolm.
Whoever started this, and talk about irony, should be considering emigrating.
      Give ’em heaps.

PS Just checked out Mathias Cormann on Twitter, not that I suspect he isn’t kosher, just because I thought it might be a hoot. Guessed right!

      • jackSprat says:

Can you understand Mathias when he gets on TV and rambles on with excessively long explanations.
I know I am hard at hearing but I cannot understand a word the guy says.

      • Carl on the Coast says:

I have to concur, JB with your view that Malcolm is making a mess of things however, only a lunatic would offer a “tawdry” comment such as: ” …. the hunt is not for witches, even though there are a couple there who are likely moonlighting ….” , especially if you are suggesting the subjects of your apparent mirth are holding a second job after dark and wear lubricious clothing.

Its okay to have a “hoot” with Mathia’s ancestral connections, but try not to get too carried away me old mate.

        • Bella says:

Actually Carl Paganism is the sixth biggest religion in England & according to the 2011 ABS there’s about 22,000 people here who identified their religious beliefs as Pagan or Wicca.
So who knows where they are or what career they’re hiding behind. 😰

          • Carl on the Coast says:

Hi Bella, on the odd occasion that I’ve come across such gatherings I have trouble sorting out which witch is which.
            Em hotep.

            • Jack The Insider says:

Re my last to Dismayed: Look, it is not a huge inconvenience to post your comments but where it becomes especially draining is reading, the personal abuse and sniping. once it starts I know it goes back and forth and simply chokes up the blog. It is difficult to read through all the stuff when it gets like that which is way too often. have a disagreement by all means but avoid the personal attacks and abuse. Crikey, it can’t be that hard.

        • Jean Baptiste says:

Sir, I resent the suggestion that I am a lunatic. In fact if you find a witches outfit “lubricious” then perhaps you should pause to consider your own disposition.
And what do mean by “Mathia’s”? Sir that is an outrageous and reckless juxtaposition of an apostrophe such as to cause psychological trauma to certain persons on this blog.

  • Henry Blofeld says:

Great read, Mr Insider, and while everything not Turnbull’s fault the way he has handled the Citizenship mess sure is. Who would have thought that Kerry Packers old lawyer, Turnbull, would now be the “Errol Flynn” of Australian Politics. He had the gall to shove the equally hopeless Abbott out of the way only to show us all he’s a class 1 dill himself. “Hungry” we all are now but for a fresh Federal Election imho.

  • Milton says:

Poor Malcolm must be hitting the Kool-Aid pretty hard.
And the kiwis have all this to look forward to. Sad really. To think we have the nerve to criticise Trump. Bring back Abbott!

    • wraith says:

Milton, Trump is an idiot. However, I dont believe one of the “removed” have had any allegiance to any other country than ours. The entire blood lines thing is a nonsense in an immigrant culture. Are we really eliminating ‘reds under the beds’ or just confused children of migrants?

      • Razor says:

Absolutely Wraith. I do not see how any of this leads to better government and by god we could do with some.

      • JackSprat says:

If we did not have dual citizenship legislation it would not be a problem and a goodly proportion of the people in this country are not eligible for one.
This whole thing could be fixed in 5 minutes by revoking the act that was passed when Murdoch had to take up US citizenship because of his US media holdings.
It is a farce. Frydenberg is a case a good example. If you can believe entries from the other side, in 2009, the Hungarians changed their citizenship to make anybody born during the war years in Hungary and their children Hungarian citizens . As a result Frydenberg is ineligible for parliament by an act of a foreign government long after he was born.
One can grow up thinking there were no ties to another country and, at a much later date, a change in legislation in the second country could change the scenario entirely.

Trump is far from being an idiot – he is many other things but definitely not an idiot.

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Bless you dear Milton you are loyal to the last with your hero Abbott I will give you that. A pox on all the miscreants who have sledged your man oooooops that’s me , please forgive. Cheers. P.S. I do wish Jacinda was our PM my loyalty would know no bounds.

    • Trivalve says:

Yes, bring Abbott back and he’ll knight them all, after pardoning them and shirt-fronting the high court.
