Humble servant of the Nation

Mother and child disunion

Here I was all set to knock out a Christmas column full of cheer and bonhomie but life, or more accurately, Daily Life has intervened.

I normally disapprove of intra-media byplays but Fairfax Media’s Daily Life section has become so full of cranky third wave feminism that someone needs to hold it up to the light. Among this waste of ink and kilobyte street corner psychobabble, comes a contribution from self described feminist Polly Dunning who tells her harrowing tale of giving birth to a shame boy. The good news is she’s slowly getting over it.

I’m not allowed to swear anymore, at least not at volume but this is sorely testing my already fragile grip on self-control.

At first blanch this was merely another addition from women who have recently given birth and have come to believe that having done so, they have unlocked the secrets of the universe. But on further reading this is a tale of a woman not just at war with men but also her own male child.

Full column here.

i read somewhere that none of the Bush family voted Trump, which is not surprising after he made Jeb look foolish, but George W can take some comfort from the fact that his responsibility for all the problems in the Middle East finally ended on the 8th November 2016.

Now it seems to be Donald’s fault.

Mrs Merkel has her underlings searching for ways to control immigration and to make deportations work.

i thought the vast illegal immigration to the EU in general and Germany in particular was always going to end badly, and it may still, but if she can scramble a way to re-control borders and enforce the law she may be a chance to salvage her situation.

it might be a hard lesson for the aussie progressives to learn, this is really a rule of law issue, and open borders is not an idea that can be widely sold.

Yes it is sad & I rather liked his music too over the years, especially when he fronted Queen for the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oYAR8RigqDA

For all the online ignoramuses out there in netland George Michael supported many charities, generously & regularly giving his time and money to homeless shelters, HIV charities, childrens charities & Britain’s NHS, all without making it public knowledge.
A very decent human being in my book.
    My best, Bella

says: ” … I piously refuse to acknowledge the day or offer greetings in the customary manner. Scroll down to page 50 …”

Yeah, just a good old combination of prancing around a few strategically placed megaliths with the elemental invocations of feral beauty chanting in the background. I’d say a full-throated rendition of “Hail the Elements” would be right up your alley JB, followed by “Call to the Moons”, and concluding with “Hold your Heart Where the Dreaming World Begins”.

Couldn’t help myself, I strayed onto page 51. There’s no “dispensing of formulated ignorance” for you JB, eh.

I don’t think McPherson would hold a candle to the natural world believers. What say you me old mate?

The Australian government has paid for PNG legal team to defy court orders to close Manus-more millions wasted! Can Dutton and his hounds stoop any lower after 7 deaths, many of them avoidable. Dutton lost over 5% in his swing at the election. 1500 votes or so and he could be gone. How these blokes can mime the parliamentary prayer and front up to church each Sunday really freaks me out. Reza (23yrs, murdered), Hamid (24yrs, skin infection-ill for weeks.Dutton refused him medical assistance.), Omid Rakib (24, heart attack, no evacuation to a hospital by Dutton),
Kamil ( 34yrs, drowned), Fazel (27yrs, found dead under suspicious circumstances) Mohammed (27yrs beaten to death in solitary confinement). All refugees who have died in Australian detention centres since 2014 under the Looters.
    &
Abbott in his Thatcher lecture “You must be kind and reach out to your brothers and sisters”. Gulp!

Penny, so far as the ABC and trustworthiness is concerned i always wonder what people are comparing it to. commercial radio, A Current Affair?

i do think the ABC is trustworthy and i think it is reliable. Not that is doesn’t make mistakes, but i doubt that it sets out to do so.

but it is a bit narrow in it’s focus and it certainly is too predictable in it’s opinions, which makes it dull.

insiders used to be the start of my sunday, but three or four journos agreeing with each other is boring television. i also used to enjoy offsiders when it was about sport, now that is about “sport’s issues” it is lame. except when gideon haigh is on, he usually has something interesting to say, but more of Gerard playing the Sunday morning preacher, no thanks.

there is a bunch of us who used to meet for a five o’clock beer of a Sunday for what became known as the HK institute for Australian Studies, i.e. an argument about that morning’s aussie tv shows, insiders, offsides, landline.

i was the only aussie, the rest british and americans, irish, but the shows engaged them all.

now, they turn on offsiders to see who is on, no gideon, no go.

Just on a friendly opinion note,.. and concern I have for this country while my apponent digging the spurs into me, Bassman ,..am Inright in saying that we must be vigilant , assessment minded into security of this country by allowing the authorities the latitudes to chase down those who want this country ambushed into hostilities?
I might throw a few spears at times Penny at opinionated enemies as my friend metioned , but the end of the day we settle down.
My reasons Penny on enemies now filtering through the political correctness barriers ives cause that we must act accordingly to shut down perpetrators and that involves action fromABC who act as apologists for radical element of our society who want to inflict carnage at any opportunity they get.
You can tear me apart Penny as much as you like , I will never take offense at opinions aimed at me .
Let this great spirit of Christmas and New Year lead us into a exciting 2017 we hope free of terrorism worldwide
    cheers Penny.

    • Penny says:

Rodent, I would never want to tear you apart, you’re too nice a guy. I do worry about you listening to Alan Jones, but that is absolutely your pregrogative ….go well and keep up the good fight, whatever it may be….
