Humble servant of the Nation

Malcolm Turnbull: the Wile E. Coyote of Australian politics

As we sit and wait for news of the fate of the seven dual citizens as they traipse from their parliamentary offices with the woebegone air of condemned men and women to the High Court this afternoon, it is worth reflecting on the sort of week the government has already had.

There is a prescient sense of deja vu about it. The Turnbull government often has good Tuesday afternoons but come the weekend, the control of the agenda has been lost, a scandal has emerged, or infighting on the backbenches has turned into a donnybrook. The familiar theme is, in any one week of the Turnbull government, one step forward and three back.

Indeed it has happened so often the thought occurs that possibly Malcolm Turnbull isn’t very good at being prime minister.

Winx great win, she is right up there on the top shelf.

WINX has won the Cox Plate for a third consecutive time, Mr Insider. The super mare, now with 22 wins on the trot, was challenged all the way in the $3 million race, with a signature late surge enough to hold off Humidor’s fighting challenge in the final 100 metres.

The (boring) Saturday Paper (h.t. Hendo), actually has a scoop. Pyne asked GetUp to help roll Abbott. The man is a reptile.

i think the problems in Spain started when they elected Gareth Evans as their Prime Minister.

“Coup” time for ex ousted PM Tony Abbott, Mr Insider, while Turnbull is away and the Lib/Nats in tatters. Come on Tony come out fighting show us all that famous “whirling dervish”.

Here’s a goodie, Jack, one that could be useful or land one in the deep doodoo.
I walked in as Ms U was texting to one of the nips. She sent the text, but held the phone as she was explaining the reasons why she had to soon go to assist the other household. We had a bit of dialogue, and I went off. But, Ms U discovered her WhatsApp had been listening to her words, had transcribed them into text and she’d inadvertently sent it off.
Coulda been awkward, though I’m pretty sure the defense “inadvertent text” may get a run before Xmas.

WINX in todays Cox Plate at Moonee Valley, Mr Insider, you wouldn’t bet on her or against her as she lines up for possibly her 22nd career win. Nice race to sit out and just watch imho. AJAX did get beaten at odds of 1/40 in a 2 horse race in 1939.

Im quite good with Mr. Windsor not wanting to run. As he says, he is a team with his wife, and she was so disgusted by the behaviour of the opposition in the last election, she doesnt want to go through that again. It takes a lot to put your hand up in this country to serve, when the first thing that happens is the mud raking then the hating.

I wouldnt do it. I believe once in a land far away BLS and I both agreed (miracle) that what they put your family through alone makes it not worth it, and that this is the biggest loss to our nation.

Of course it would take someone with a modicum of empathy, or maybe a partner of their own to understand how they could be affected, some days you dont find that here.
