DUTTS:-dives for the dog whistle re Victoria. Gotta hand it to him! He is exposing his cards before the election!

    • smoke says:

good bloke to have a beer with

      • Razor says:

Absolutely smoke! Great to see you agree. Big things for him in the future I’d suggest. The fact some of the notable leftists, including your good self, on this blog hate him shows he has a great future in politics, particularly if he sticks with his beliefs and implements practical solutions instead kowtowing to elitist theory and identity politics.

        • Penny says:

Oh come on, Razor…..I know we are quite far apart (well maybe oceans apart ) with regard to our political beliefs, but that comment about Dutton takes the cake. The man is an ignorant dangerous fool…..despite being an amenable guy to “have a beer with’”. Find a more admirable person to adore…even Tony Abbot is s nicer bloke than your hero Dutton.

        • Bella says:

I’m hoping those “big things for him” will be in the private sector only Razor.
For instance he’d make an outstanding prison warden or even a big four CEO.
None of the above requires you to locate your heart.

      • BASSMAN says:

        Hope you checked your pockets

    • Razor says:

They have a significant problem in Victoria and have for some time Bassy and it’s coming to a place near you……

      • Penny says:

Razor, Australia has always had a problem with gangs. You can go right through our history and choose any era you want to find that out. Don’t you remember the reports about newly formed Greek and Italian gangs not long after they came out to Australia? Vietnamese gangs? Lebanese gangs? They have no more of a problem with gangs in Victoria, than they do in other States. This is a purely political move by Turnbull and Dutton that will backfire. In Greg Hunt’s (one of the Federal MPs huffing and puffing) electorate, where I hail from originally, one of the biggest problems are young, white, University educated drug dealers. Do you think they’ll call for Federal intervention? Don’t think so. If anything will guarantee Daniel Andrews getting back into government it’s Peter Dutton….oh and of course Matthew Guy. Victorians are a cranky lot when it comes to Federal interference.

        • Razor says:

Actually Penny you’re incorrect. This is different for a number of reasons not least of which are the stats. I have purposely not really entered into this one at any length. I’ll post some more over the weekend with my opinions which offer incites to the policing issues which are compounding this problem. One thing I do agree with you on is federal intervention is crap.

On another note regarding all those ‘bad’ Sudanese can someone tell me who is the good guy and bad guy here?

          http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/how-brisbane-bus-driver-manmeet-alishers-tragic-death-changed-lives-forever/news-story/879acb8ec25db3c074baba4886dc81d7

          • Penny says:

OK Razor, I’ll look forward to your post over the weekend. What I can’t stand is uninformed comments about a situation that not many people have any real knowledge about. I respect your experience in these issues Razor, ad I trust you to supply us with the facts….
I would even be happy for you and I to communicate privately…..let me know

        • Boadicea says:

Do you really think that gangs of youths rampaging through St Kilda beachfront assaulting people. completely destroying an Airbnb, robbing stores in broad daylight, runningvsmuckbinvshppping centres, hurling abuse at people playing tennis in Essendon, jewellery stores now having to lock their door on to the street is a political ploy of Turnbull and Dutton? Really? Do you know how stupid that sounds? This has been building up over a couple of years.
There was a very interesting panel discussion on RN this morning -one of the participants, John, leader of the South Sudanese Youth Community, himself acknowledged that it was time to quit with the political correctness that has allowed this street gang situation to reach the point it has and call it. At least he was prepared to be open and honest in an attempt to find a solution.
The Victorian government and justice system has been ineffective – quite obviously.
Dutton happens to be the Minister of Home Affairs. That is his job – whether you like it or not. They are in government whether you like it or not. He hasn’t called for their deportation. Grow up.
What would you prefer then? Everyone sit back and let these kids destroy their society and themselves in the process?
Get a life. People are trying to step in and sort this out – in everyone’s interest.

        • JackSprat says:

There has always been a problem …..
The last resort of people who do not have a a solution fort he current problem Penny.

        • Razor says:

          JTI,
Could you provide Penny with both my email please.

          Many thanks.

          SR Quaddie 100% today!

      • Boadicea says:

        Sure do, Razor.

      • BASSMAN says:

Go and have a look at the front page of The Herald Sun.Do you think that would have happened if the Liberals were in in Victoria? Not a chance.
Dutton is one of the most dangerous men in Australia.

    • JackSprat says:

      What has he done now?

    • Mack the Knife says:

Comment from otw about Victoria and Labor’s denial of crime problem.

“Labor is very aware of it constituency and it’s future constituents. It has done a great job in creating them through welfare dependence, a booming public service (where its wages outstrips the private sector for first time in history), infiltrating our institutions (including business) with Leftist ideology and keeping in good with recent immigrants and ethnic enclaves is another way of ensuring dominance in important electorates.

Australia is now at the mercy of the public sector and public sector interests. Anyone who stands up for or points to the interests of small business, entrepreneurial endeavor, encouragement of saving, fiscal responsibility, assimilation by immigrants, Western values, Judeo-Christian culture is dismissed as a dinosaur at best and a racist alt-right at worst. The manipulation is complete. The brain-washing and spoon-feeding of a unsustainable fantasy so ingrained that only a depression will wake people up. That won’t happen though because, Australia, scared to death of a moments discomfort will toady to China’s every whim to stop that happening.”

      • Dismayed says:

MTK You continue to show how many of your generation seek to incite fear in every situation to justify your bigotry.

      • Jean Baptiste says:

        Aiyeeeee! The dinosaur, it talks!

      • Trivalve says:

Are you posting that as a public service or is it an endorsement Mack?

        • Mack the Knife says:

Thought I’d throw it out there to see what sort of reaction it would get from the usual suspects. I wasn’t disappointed.

        • Penny says:

Sounds like an endorsement to me. Come on MtK you’ve worked around the world in the Middle East and Africa I thought….a bit of compassion here wouldn’t go,astray

          • Mack the Knife says:

Seriously Penny? Lady called Joanne penned that comment and had 110 likes which caught my interest. Thought I’d throw it in here as a discussion point. Shooting the messenger seems to be the tactique du jour here lately.

Regarding compassion, that is exactly why I took a break from working in the MENA. It was becoming TFM to bear.

          • Jean Baptiste says:

How would you know “Joanne” is a lady? Theres more than one way of approaching that query.
Sounds like Boadicea might have copped a copy of Atlas Shrugged for Christmas and too busy posting to read it, just ate it.

      • smoke says:

yeah goodo …its the feds immigration stance thats creating this cohort

  • Henry Blofeld says:

The World could be in for an “uplifting” year Mr Insider as we read: “President Trump warned North Korea Tuesday that he has access to a ‘bigger & more powerful’ nuclear button than Kim Jong-Un’s. The comment follows a previous taunt from Kim that ‘the U.S. should know that the button for nuclear weapons is on my table’ in his New Year’s address
Also on Tuesday the UN warned of North Korea staging another missile test
US Ambassador Nikki Haley told reporters that the US had heard North Korea might be planning another missile launch”
Strewth glad the Blofelds installed our Nuclear Fallout Shelter in 2017 but was 3M down far enough!

  • BASSMAN says:

As most of you are aware, the unstable Jim Molan has scored a Senate seat with (wait for it!) 0.2% of the vote! He is a raving military right winger. I do agree with some of his stuff though-we must embrace ICBM’s and he is strongly against the 99year lease of the Darwin Port to the Chinese. I have just listened to him talking on this in a podcast. The interviewer asked him what should we do if a Chinese aircraft carrier decided to permanently put anchor down in the bay. Mad Jim promptly replied “Give me a policeman and a pistol and I’ll take the port back for you whenever we need it.” Astounded, the interviewer expanded on this asking about the aircraft carrier…good old Jim replies?

“If it ever tried to do it we would put it seriously at the bottom of the ocean”. Now the interviewer was waiting for a laugh but no Jim was dead serious. And the Liberals are letting war mongering ex-military madmen like this into the Senate…bloody hell, fools like him with an attitude like that could have us wiped off the map. I hope the Chinese were not listening with their Telco system the Libs let them set up in Australia.

    • Jean Baptiste says:

I wouldn’t worry too much about idiot senators having too much influence on decisions BASS. Nor will the Chinese. I think their inscrutability is already severely tested by some of the vainglorious halfwits we manage to elect to parliament as it is.
The ramping up of paranoia over defence (your reference to installing ICBM’s) is a worry though.
The shills for the US military industrial complex agitate and promote conflicts all over the world to boost arms sales.
The Koreas are a classic example, with South Korea, second largest purchaser of US arms in the world, a milking cow for US arms manufacturers.
Think it through. If we install ICBM’s , we become a threat to any country with a suspicion of the Australian US alliance agenda will increase their defences and build a response. Then we’ll need an anti ballistic missile defence system at least, and on and on it will go. Come in suckers!
It’s not as if the “dudding” of Australia isn’t a fait accompli and at it’s limit anyway.

      Give ’em heaps.

    • JackSprat says:

So you are proposing that we do not defend this country?

      • Jean Baptiste says:

Pay attention JackSprat It is fair to assume BASSMAN’s loopy endorsement of ICBM’s is with “defence” in mind, isn’t it?
As for senator who should really be in a refuge for the bewildered, he seems to have Darwin Harbour confused with an “ocean”.
As for that hypothetical Chinese aircraft carrier? What would you do?

      • Carl on the Coast says:

I say JS, re your 8.42AM. If the truth be know, I think me old mate JB adopts the foetal position after dark, has his reusable insertable ear canal device close at hand and apprehensively and surreptitiously attempts to drift off to slumber with an oversized duckdown filled pillow over his noggin.

      • Razor says:

He always proposes this JS. I think his preferred position is to rely on the yanks but he cannot bring himself to say it.

  • Dismayed says:

For goodness sake someone please save us from thiis Fwit trump. Anyone supporting this senile, dangerous person should hang their heads in shame.
    http://www.theage.com.au/world/trump-to-kim-jong-un-my-nuclear-button-is-bigger-and-more-powerful-20180103-p4yy7p.html

    • Henry Blofeld says:

Lets hope Fat Boy Kimmie Jong-un doesn’t carry through with his stated threat to Nuke Australia Dismayed although possibly comforting for him to have your total support. Cheers

      • Dismayed says:

HB highlight where I stated I support Nth Korea? I stated what any thinking person knows trump is an fwit and dangerous to all mankind. I note your support of trump and you should be ashamed for supporting such a dangerous divisive individual. It says a lot about you.

    • Bella says:

      Mine’s bigger than yours……OMG they’re both children. ☮

    • Jean Baptiste says:

One presumes there are wiser heads keeping an eye on The Donald Dismayed. I suspect there is a version of the “Quayle Protocol” in place,
Standing Orders. “If Trump reaches for the red button, shoot him!.”
No seriously, the button has been disconnected and if Donald presses it he will be accompanied by some men in black suits to a place where he will be acquainted in uncompromising terms with the reality of a useful idiots usefulness.

    • Razor says:

A very interesting interview on RN this morning regarding Trump Dismayed. The bloke interviewed was a head negotiator for the State Department for 20 years. He disagreed strongly with Trumps actions but at the same time put them in the context of US domestic politics. When put in this context what he is doing makes absolute sense. I personally don’t like it but can see why he’s doing it. In the age of information when even the great unwashed, the deplorables if you like, have instant access to information he’s playing the only game in town. I am amused that he’s not following old school diplomatic protocols which have been around since Bismarck and before. He’s shoved it right up the diplomatic elite and they don’t like it. They’re not controlling the show anymore and are whinging. It’s particularly funny the so called progressives are the people most upset about the Donald taking us into a brave new world. Again not a Donald fan but am sitting back and having a giggle.

  • Milton says:

Tracy – no doubt you’ve noticed the tipping site has gone kerplunk and fixated over a game that isn’t even taking place.

    • Tracy says:

Yup, I’ll wait for them to fix it up.
Contacting them is a waste of time think they get a bit peeved they actually have to do something even though it takes them over a week to reply…….if they even bother

  • JackSprat says:

Geez I love the use of experts.
Pollie gets up and says 20% of the accidents on the Great Ocean Road is cause by foreign drivers. Her electorate and current figures from Vic Roads.
Journo probably has the need to give the alternate view since pollie is a member of the Liberal Party.
    Contacts QLD U for a comment (CARRS-Q).
Senior research fellow gives an answer saying that foreign drivers do not pose a risk and only cause .7% of accidents – based on – wait for it – research of accidents between 1996 and 1999.
Firstly it could be a misprint.
Secondly what on earth has the overall accident rate got to do with accidents by foreign drivers. Their accidents will be clustered on the tourists treks and not in suburbia where most accidents occur.
By the way, the Headline on the article was “Foreign Drivers no more dangerous than Australians”
Similarly some expert was saying that the bunch in Vic causing havoc are not gangs – her definition of gangs are the ones operating in LA. My question to her would be , “How did the LA lot get started?”

    • Boadicea says:

Worrying that there seems to be a lot of tip-toeing around these gangs creating havoc in Melbourne. JS.
God knows how they are going to sort it out now. These kids come from an extremely violent background and perhaps should have been given a lot of support when they first arrived as refugees.

      • JackSprat says:

Maybe they did Boa or maybe they did not.
What they are doing is unacceptable. They know that they will get away with anything virtually without penalty and therein lies the problem.
Support for the humanitarian part of the immigration scheme will erode very quickly if these idiots are not bought to heel.

      • Dismayed says:

Yvonne, maybe keeping people in detention for years on end after committing no crime leads to issues. I note. the Police and other experts in the area say these are not organised gangs as the coalition are trying to scare people into believing. Then again the cons have nothing but fear and smear.

      • Penny says:

Boa, I agree with you. A few years my daughter sent me a story that she had asked a young Sudanese student of hers to write about his life before he came to Australia . He was fighting in a tribal war at the age of six years old after being taken from his mother by his father. To cut a long story short he suffered badly (obviously) until he was sixteen, reunited with his mother and lo and behold he comes to Australia. No support once he arrived, no assimilation process, nothing. He did get into trouble initially, but he turned himself around and is now living quite happily, with a job, a young family etc.etc. A lot of them do settle in well into the community, but we don’t hear about those, we only hear about the ones who don’t. Making this a political issue will not help at all.
We’re all experts when it comes to social issues, but not many of us are actually involved in the frontline when dealing with them. My daughter is and one of the things she and her co-workers come up against constantly is treading the fine line between genuinely supporting these people, not just the Sudanese I might add, and dealing with the politicians and bureaucracy, who want immediate solutions, but provide no funding or expertise to solve the problems

  • jack says:

good to see the christmas and new year goodwill has been moderated by a wee bit of bickering over fireworks and power prices.

the year has begun, well done!

  • Lou oTOD says:

Just read an article on how the time of day you eat can control weight loss. One proponent is a 66 year old woman from El Dorado California, whose dinner parties start at 4pm.

The name of the lady in question? Vivian Rootness. Sounds like she might have a few things going for her.

Schapelle Corby has taken to making Songs Mr Insider and here’s a snippet of her 1st release called “Palm Trees”. Am afraid it wont be joining my extensive music collection highlighted of course by the Rolling Stones entire collection amongst many other top artists. Good luck Schapelle, who did the crime and the time and now lives on the QLD Gold Coast. She also runs a very well subscribed Instagram account, linked.
