The real Trump derangement syndrome

Trump derangement syndrome was said to be a disorder found among those who see consistent fault in the words and deeds of the 45th POTUS.

Certainly, there have been cases where the media has been unfair and unreasonable in its treatment of Trump. The street corner psychoanalysis of Trump as often found on the pages of The Washington Post and the New York Times has been especially tedious and lamentable.

But we have a better understanding of Trump derangement syndrome now and those who point a finger at Trump’s critics have got it the wrong way around.

It is said of Trump’s presidency that no matter how chaotic or scandal riddled it has been, the media can always turn to an interview with a small group sporting MAGA baseball caps in diners in the back blocks of Wisconsin or Ohio or Arizona or western Pennsylvania who say they love Donald Trump more than ever.

I suspect there’ll be fewer of them now but still plenty for the media to call upon at will. After Helsinki, the predictable ‘Trump can do no wrong’ response is especially revealing of the symptoms and signs of the dreaded real Trump derangement syndrome.

Super Election Saturday coming up Mr. Insider and Bloggers are we ready. Will wee Billy Shorten cop the flogging he so richly deserves? Time will tell.

Just listening to an interview with independent Craig Garland in Braddon. He’s tipped to get as much as 10% of the vote – and will give his votes to Labor.
I’m not surprised. There is a feeling of resentment around that the Libs are behind big business and tourism and selling out the loggers etc.
    Labor will win Braddon.

  • Milton says:

Whilst one labor man I know can’t stand Shorten it is probably best not to write him off until after the by-elections. Even then labor should let Shorten get burnt at the next election and then start afresh with Albo. The easy, shallow niche populism that Shorten and his gullible backers go for does not wash with those living in the real world.

    Chelsea!!!!
ps. no strange names appearing of late. so hopefully sorted, Jack.

Trump’s latest display of belligerence towards Iran, coupled with his fawning attitude towards Russia and, to a lesser extent, North Korea, is puzzling, to say the least.

It may not be that far fetched that Vlad has something on Trump. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, otherwise.

I’ll mention again that the GOP should, collectively, grow a spine and start publicly supporting the Department of Justice and FBI as politically independent agencies, in the face of Trump’s despicable attacks. I also hope Americans as a whole, regardless of their political leanings, wake up and realize that Trump’s attacks are an attack on democracy within the US.

Our Bob Brown working hard as always. Yesterday up in Sydney seeing the Sea Shepherd off on its voyage to Abbot Point, and tonight back in Hobart for the 8th annual Hobart Oration – delivered this year by Julian Burnside QC – on the topic of climate change and human rights of the refugees detained in Manus and Nauru. “Justice for the Next Generation”.
We had a moving video from a detainee on Manus, Behrouz Boochani. Intelligent young man – stateless Kurd. He’s written a 300 -page book entirely through text messages.
    An altogether informative evening

Mr. Insider we see with delight more freedoms being given to the long-suffering people of Cuba, bless them all, ruled by the tyrannical Castros for so long. One of our esteemed bloggers, a great fan of Fidel Castro, who without a doubt was the “Errol Flynn” of Cuba as everything he touched ………… well you all know the story. Fidel took “Stuffups” to a new height and the link below shows his “Top 10”. We pray for the good people of Cuba that reforms to a Free Society continue as fast as possible.

on cue the self admitted sexual abuser and mocker of the handicapped loses his shit on tweeter threatening war and threatening the lives of every person on the planet. Iran had been somewhat contained until trump took over. I have been working recently with one of these trump apologists. As we see on this blog the blind support for the manic trump is about, them, somehow seeing themselves as victims in this changing world. Just as trump is a “victim” and a self proclaimed “winner” almost simultaneously. those supporting him are unable to cope with change and fear the loss of their privilege. No Surprises.

Hi Dismayed and other offshore workers
      Just a friendly warning
My brother who worked on drilling rigs started as a roughneck, for many a year and ended up as a rig super has been diagnosed with cancer
He is being treated at RPH where he has discovered that many of his old rig friends are suffering as well. It was like old mates week.
They as a group completely outnumber any other group that suffers from the scourge.
Doctors are blaming the diesel fumes that blow across the rig floor during drilling operations.
Suggest if you or any of your friends are even feeling a bit wonky get to see a doctor reel quick

      • Trivalve says:

Hi there Robin, you old Tory you!

Diesel fumes are a possible cause of bladder cancer and I’ve inhaled a crapload of them over the years. Who knows? But more to the point for Dismayed and Mack, automation is comin’ to get ya!:

meh, still need someone to drive, service and maintain fix the hydraulics, change the dies, and the rollers and continually ensure the alignment in right, not to mention continually check torque settings. You would be surprised how many people have been killed by getting squashed as the iron roughneck is retracted. Been around for years..

        • Mack the Knife says:

Those NOV iron roughnecks have been around for a while Tri, had a rig in Thailand that had fully automated rig floor & catwalk system. Useless really, and when it breaks down the whole operation goes to crap. IT gurus aren’t given all the troubleshooting codes so NOV technician has to be hot-shotted to the rig and a huge bill to boot. Lots of hidden & real NPT. Still can’t beat a good rig crew for smooth operations. Hard to find these days though, especially in this country I’m sad to report.

      • Dismayed says:

robin, hope your brother fights and wins. Yep diesel fumes and then the silicosis from the barite and gel we used to mix without respiratory protection. lead in the dope, lead in the paint, asbestos in the accommodations, exposures all day long until more recently. Yet we still have to constantly implore the hands to take the time to use the PPE. All the best to your brother and the rest of the crew.

I say, Mr. Insider, well done PM Malcolm Turnbull who has become the first Prime Minister in decades to visit the troubled Top End town of Tennant Creek, saying he is committed to a Barkly regional deal to help improve the situation. Of course, ex-ousted PM Abbott also used to go into remote Aboriginal Communes to seek answers to improving their lifestyles. Well dones when well dones are due I say.

It all means nothing if they do nothing later ‘Enery. Indigenous improvement in this country is a massive nut to crack.

Tennant Creek has some Godawful problems but it’s not as bad as some make out. I have a connection there and spent a few nights there last year – I would walk the main street at night.
