Humble servant of the Nation

Mother and child disunion

Here I was all set to knock out a Christmas column full of cheer and bonhomie but life, or more accurately, Daily Life has intervened.

I normally disapprove of intra-media byplays but Fairfax Media’s Daily Life section has become so full of cranky third wave feminism that someone needs to hold it up to the light. Among this waste of ink and kilobyte street corner psychobabble, comes a contribution from self described feminist Polly Dunning who tells her harrowing tale of giving birth to a shame boy. The good news is she’s slowly getting over it.

I’m not allowed to swear anymore, at least not at volume but this is sorely testing my already fragile grip on self-control.

At first blanch this was merely another addition from women who have recently given birth and have come to believe that having done so, they have unlocked the secrets of the universe. But on further reading this is a tale of a woman not just at war with men but also her own male child.

Full column here.

Of course Trump won the election, 60 million Russians couldn’t be wrong!

    @ Bella
Just caught up reading posts. So sorry to hear about your son’s accident. It never stops you know, the mothering gig. My youngest has just thrown a windsurfer on the ute and is heading down south to the lakes. Southern lakes, unpredictable winds, what could go wrong, right? And when I say ‘be careful lad’, he looks at me with such exasperation. I feel your fear, and worry . Hope he’s on the mend soon. Good luck.
    best regards

Razor – I just guessing, but I reckon there’s a hole in the same bucket the cow jumped over on its way to the moon.

Great read today from Graham Lloyd on well balance planet abundance of higher vegetated nations growing due to higher Co2 levels highly important for survival with added bioenergy that will save the planet. These are proven scientific findings with many reputable scientists involved.Peking uni gets a mention so all in this together .Prof Judith Curry adds to the dynamics of understanding needed. Nasa also endorses this scientic discoveries . 24 of 32 institutions in 8 countries throwing their hats into the ring to join the party of expanding wealth and survival . Our CSIRO says a possible 45 billion dollar market .Watch the critics and opposition wind power lobbyists whinge on all this .

    Bassman,..
Maybe the Pakis need to return back home and have look around for some other alternatives or may need to return to the mosques and dig around for some young junior talent that can perform at a higher levels before returning here. May need a few Crown lager long necks to boost their confidence .

Thanks on your comment.I think this team spirit of ours is building into a “challenging reputable force” staging a “strategy of strong offensive ” on our apponents Razor! I am sure we have come away with the points and can relax putting our spears away till a later date .
This Bassman seems to be a bit of a hinderence , not sure whether he will smoke the peace pipe.I am dam sure Dismayed is still in the fighting front lines doing battle to the end .Bassman , looks like I may need to return to the golden north Tweed Heads and pull his ear after trying his resistence credentials out once more while entering the ring.
Dismayed ,…one here for you today in the Australian from environmental editor Graham Lloyd very informing.
You will need someone to explain this to you I imagine dear fellow!
Bioenergy on how the planet is thriving with now 25 %to 50% of the earths vegetated lands show significant greeningaccross past 27 years largely due to rising levels of Co2
New discoveries of energy from this.

Your inuendo has left me breathless and speechless, me old mate.

Dramatically so in the case of motorcycle riders. In the case of Texas and other states repealing compulsory helmet laws it would be interesting to factor in the increase in organs available for donation and find how many lives are saved as a consequence of motorcyclists not wearing helmets.
A macabre thing to dwell on perhaps but a fact of life. It would be inappropriate to speculate as to a “Darwinian” element in the paradigm. Texans are people too.

    Bella

We are all very relieved your young fella was wearing a helmet. A happy as can be New Year for him and thee. How about some updates?

    • Bella says:

I can’t fathom why anyone would repeal helmet laws anywhere when they have long been proven to prevent fatalities from brain trauma.
That link appears to make the point that if there were more deceased bike riders it’d be a bonus for flagging organ donation numbers.

Honestly, I can’t sugar-coat a response to that one after our past week.
Thanks for your 2017 wishes though, Bella

  • Bella says:

So sorry for getting all messy OT here yesterday. Certainly not the place for a meltdown but thanks to everyone who replied anyways.
This mother gig sure can wreck you sometimes.
For an update, he sustained a broken collarbone, 3 ribs & a wrist fracture. He should be discharged tomorrow if the headache & lethargy from the concussion eases up some overnight. All to heal in time so we’re very grateful the young driver wasn’t going more than 10ks over.
On a lighter note it’s funny how he desperately wanted to “bust out of”there this morning but a pretty young lady offering a sponge bath & CPR (she was joking) (I think) had him suddenly keen to stay longer!
    Regards, Bella

    • Tracy says:

Glad to hear he’s doing better Bella, with or without sponge bath.

    • Milton says:

Did someone mention sponge bath? I’m really filthy!

ps. Speaking of grubby, how tall are you, dismayed?

      • Carl on the Coast says:

Milton (2.21pm) – You’re a tricky fellow Milton. I noticed you particularly shied away from asking “how high” given the substance of some of his posts. But instead you opted for “how tall”.

Even then, you need to be aware that lexiconographers have warned that adjectives applied to persons, e.g. “tall”, notwithstanding sense evolution, mutate quite quickly in meaning. For instance, while Dismayed may well be, say 1.8 metres in height (not high), if he was thrown in amongst a bunch of Harlem Globetrotters he’d be struggling to jump up and bite them on the ankle. In that respect he wouldn’t be very “tall” at all. And then there’s the question of ‘standing tall’, etc. (now that’s a biggie).

I think I’ve got all that about right.

Btw, thanks for the ps. a few posts back, you’re far too kind.

Hope you burst into 2017 with the wit and wisdom you’ve provided us over the past year.
        Cheers

Good news Bella. Glad to hear it. Yesterday our volunteer ambos and our neighbouring volunteer firies got called out to a double road fatality near here. There’s never a good time for that sort of thing but this is the worst.
