Why I quit TV

During the election campaign I received a phone call from a producer at the ABC’s The Drum program. She asked if I was willing to take the long drive into Ultimo and front up on the show.

I replied that I would not, citing the Marxist principle — and I’m talking Groucho here — that I wouldn’t want to appear on a television program that would have me as a guest. I didn’t hear her laughing on the other end of the phone but she didn’t call back, so rather than accept my fate I’ve decided to get on the front foot and huffily declare I am retiring from television.
