Laughing it up with Malcolm

The national smoke night known as the Midwinter Ball has been rumbled. Of course, you and I can’t go, not without creating a scene anyway, but we did manage to get a glimpse of the frivolity from a ‘leaked’ video shot on one of the more than 600 smartphones in the Great Hall of Parliament House.

With that many phones with functioning cameras, I doubt we can actually call it a leak as the clip had better production values than you might see on Channel Ten at the moment.

There is no truth in the rumour that Malcolm Turnbull clambered back on stage for an encore, ate at a vase full of flowers and sung the first two verses of Eskimo Nell for even more hilarity. And I am yet to establish if, in the latter part of the evening, they got the Crown and Anchor board out and those assembled opened their wallets and went hard.

Maybe my bandwidth is a bit on the slow side (thanks Malcolm), because by the time I got the video to play, all the good jokes might have been lost in the buffering – but in this morning’s spin on what may one day become known as the real death of vaudeville, the Prime Minister’s colleagues emerged to declare him the new King of Comedy… and not in the bad Rupert Pupkin way.

Just checked the Insiders Mob ladder and at around the half way mark of the season i’m halfway on the leader board and 6 off the pace, and happy with that. the toughy for mine this weekend is Richmond v Carlton and I think I will rue my pick.

Seriously think the Tiges are a pretty good side though notoriously inconsistent. The Blues are in good nick but they still have 8-10 players running around with less than 20 games under their belts.

    • Tracy says:

You wouldn’t happen to be trying to point out that for once you are in front of me would you Milt?
Now is the winter of my footy tipping discontent………..lap it up sunshine……I’ll be back😈

      • Milton says:

Certainly not, but I was seriously considering giving you a mention. I was looking for you on the ladder and assumed you must have retired hurt!

  • Wissendorf says:

Tipped early as I’m heading off on the annual junk run tomorrow. I’ve stuck with Carlton to do the Tigers. Blues have some pep in their step and are playing a winning style of footy. They didn’t carry any injuries away from Metricon. The forwards could pick up the accuracy a bit but the defense is as good as any in the League atm. Demons to nail Freo. D’s are the most improved team in the comp this year. Hawks to do Crows at home. (Nah – just jivin’ with that one). Maroons in the SoO tonight. Thurston and Slater will make an enormous difference.

Looks horribly like N Korea brought that lad close to death and sent him home as some sort of macabre message. Tragic

An interesting article by Maurice Newman , worth a read.

  • Bella says:

My oh my, whilst we’re “Laughing it up with Malcolm” Abbott just lost it in the big house. Seriously, is he on the edge or what?

Come on Bella, get a reality check. A Facebook story relating a Laura Tingle gossip piece?

BTW, even if the comment was made, it was a Party room meeting not the big house. And if you noticed, the photo was Abbott in the big chair with Turnbull chewing his ear, a snapshot from history.

That was a really silly post.

  • BASSMAN says:

The RAAF has halted air operations over Syria amid rising tensions with Russia, after Trump shot down a Syrian regime fighter jet. …..what the hell is Trumper getting us into…we will be stuffed soon if we keep kowtowing to these warmongers. Madness. These wars have nothing to do with us and we should not be there. We must get out yesterday! It’s not a promising scenario.
Two egotistical maniacs in a confrontation that could start the Big One. The fact that Trump has surrounded himself with idiots and total sycophants doesn’t augur well either, although I guess it won’t matter much, because he always ignores advice anyway. I very worried about Trump and Iran. Then the madman sells billions of dollars worth of weapons to the mob who piloted the planes that hit the Twin Towers.

That word again-“FLEXIBILITY”…whenever the Looters use this word it means the same thing. It is code for wage cuts, more casual employment over career long term employment and a general loss of working conditions. It was Howard’s favourite word……… “flexibility”.

Just watching Looter Minister for Higher Electricity Prices blaming Labor for the doubling of power prices since the 2013 election. He blames Labor for closing down power companies like Hazelton in Victoria-a total lie. It was a privately owned French company which like many others have found old coal fired power are just not economical to maintain and just closed it down with a few months notice. Simple answer-wholesale electricity prices have DOUBLED since the carbon tax was abolished. He refused to answer Leigh’s question directly on this and just wandered off down the rabbit hole.

    GO da BLEWZ

    • Rhys Needham says:

That kind of thing in Syria is what quite a few Trump supporters seem to have proffered as reasons not to vote for Hillary…

  • Dismayed says:

Laugh I nearly sh…. this is hilarious and highlights just how regressive the Australian coalition are. Who did Rex Tillerson run again? oh that’s right ExxonMobil. Oh my goodness on the same day turntable gives support to new coal fired power plants? Australia leading from the arse end. HAHAHAHA. it would be funny if not so sad.

So the government is to offer concessions to catholic schools to get Gonksi thru its party room.
Cant help thinking of Lady Whiteadder’s immortal comment.
Wicked boy. Cold is Gods way of telling us we must burn more catholics…
