Imagine in this age of instant gratification, having to wait for something, anything for 45 years. Then think what it must be like to have to wait so long for something as fundamental as the truth.

Former Victoria Police detective, Denis Ryan, turned 86 last month.

In 1972, he was forced out of the Victoria Police Force after trying to bring the pedophile priest, Monsignor John Day, to justice.

Forty years later, Denis came to my home and together we wrote the book of that appalling story, Unholy Trinity: The Hunt for the Pedophile Priest Monsignor John Day”.

At the time I cautioned Denis about setting his expectations too high. The subject material of the book was so disturbing I doubted it would be a bestseller. To publisher Allen & Unwin’s credit they published anyway.

Cummins gets the big wicket of the English skipper again. Cummins is taking over the Andy Bichel role of getting the key big wicket. Bichel by the way along with Michael Bevan were early victims of the Hohns bizarro selections on in their cases non selections. C’mon Aussie. Big Haze roughing them up too.

I’d suggest they doing very well at the moment, Dismayed. M Marsh dropped a sitter but thus far you’d have to concede the selectors have got it right. Adelaide was a great test and me youngster went there on the last 2 days (second with a gold coin) and managed to get autographs from Lyons, Starc, Hazelwood Warner and I think Smith. Plus winning a bronze with his team. He reckoned it was a great place to watch cricket and enjoyed Adelaide. Alas, none of the crew brought me back a pie floater, Haigs chocs, Coffin Bay oysters or an old pair of Don Dunstan’s shorts!

Are you suggesting those that said Renshaw and Handscombe at the time of their selections last year would struggle due to their “techniques” were correct? Or those that have called for Tim Paine’s inclusion for years are also correct?
