Humble servant of the Nation

Bill Shorten the political contortionist

Let’s face it, Bill Shorten is the only reason Coalition MPs still get out of bed every morning. Without him, they’d be stuck in the foetal position, rocking gently from side to the side, sucking their thumbs.

If we thought the Turnbull government was a broken husk of a government, we’d be right but in the past six months with the intensity building feverishly over the last fortnight, Bill Shorten has reminded us all that Labor, too, is a shambles, caught in a web of its own making.

A brief history of Shorten’s position on the $16.5 billion Adani mine in North Queensland reveals he’s done more revolutions than Che Guevara. Six months ago Shorten gave the mine the thumbs up. Then he dragged out the party line that he supported the Adani mine provided it “stacked up economically and environmentally.” That was two weeks ago. After a whirlwind trip of the Great Barrier Reef, courtesy of the Australian Conservation Foundation, Shorten had a trademark change of heart, followed by another. Last week he threatened to put the kibosh on the mine entirely. This week he says he no longer supports the mine but will reluctantly let it go ahead.

I’m getting vertigo just thinking about it.

“The trials enhance the likelihood that the energy transition will bring new technology that can deliver cheaper, smarter, cleaner and more reliable grids than before.” No surprises.

Thank goodness the country still has journalist like Michael West.

Not Finished Yet says: March 9, 2018 at 1:07 pm. Note the outcry today in the news from mainly BBoomers who may lose the howard/costello double dipping taxpayer funded cash bonus. The average worker cannot claim more tax back than they paid but the wealthiest mostly older Australians believe they should be able to? No Surprises.

Keating supporting Trump on foreign affairs, Bob Carr in line with Abbott on immigration and Shorten inspired by Trump. Perhaps I have had too much to drink!

Apropos Stormy Daniels, I can almost hear the Donald singing “Into each life some rain must fall, but too much is falling in mine”.
Jeez, The Singing Detective turned me onto some good music!

Water off a ducks back to the iron man POTUS Trump he has bigger “fish” to fry like Kimmie of North Korea. The Democrats are still smarting from the towelling up Grandma Clinton got at the hands of Trump. “Keep America Great” his new 2020 war cry Milton as he fulfils in spades the old one “Make America Great”. Cheers

Keating supporting the removal of the unfunded Howard/Costello cash in hand welfare for the wealthy. Oh and Carr has been talking about reducing immigration for a long time, much longer than abbott has which is about 2 weeks. Abbott is agreeing with Bob Carr. Get some steel cut oats into ya. But admitting you have a drinking problem is a good first step.

I suspect that most people in the US read the Stormy stories and think, yep, of course he did, it is Donald after all, but then the ones who voted for him did so knowing what he is like so it probably won’t change a vote.

as Greg Gutfield said, finding out Donald Trump slept with an adult film star is like finding out Mike Pence didn’t.

If the Dems are serious about winning against Trump they need to ignore the side-shows and tackle policy and find some decent candidates, especially a Presidential candidate with a better slogan than this time it really really really is my turn, and you were a bunch of arseholes not to vote for me last time.

Day in day out outrage isn’t likely to see him off.

The Greens have been very quiet of late Mr Insider. For a Party that has been around for 26 years and still hasn’t come close to governing in their own right you would think they would be pushing harder to convince Australians they are an alternative government. Do hope also when POTUS Trump arrives on our shores they behave in a respectful manner unlike when POTUS Bush came here in 2003. A nice big vat of Tar with Feathers ready for whoever disgraces Australia I say!
