Humble servant of the Nation

The real question is should governments govern?

When the time comes for me to scratch away at the voluntary postal plebiscite, I will be voting no. And I say so presuming the question is “Do you approve of the Coalition government spending $122 million of taxpayers’ money to save it from itself?”

Really, that is the question. Or it should be.

The Turnbull government is acting against its own interests. This nationwide opinion poll runs contrary to everything the Liberal Party believes in. Even the party’s manifesto says so. Not that they call it that in order to avoid any ideological misapprehensions. They deign it a platform and in that document, replete with more motherhood statements than a 10 minute harangue from Mia Freedman, there sits this rather incriminating phrase: “…that government exists to serve people and not the reverse.”

But here we are engaging in an unproductive and divisive exercise for no good reason other than the Coalition government will erupt into terminal brawling unless the people bail them out for a couple of months before the next round of fussin’ and feudin’ begins.

Now Brandis attempts to censure Wong and hasn’t got the numbers. The Keystone Cops are not dead. Don’t know why I’m at work when i could be over the other side of the hill with a bag of popcorn watching.

Just in case there’s a little bit of life left in this blog Jack, since the new one is not for going off track, it occurred to me that we have missed a marvellous opportunity in that John Clarke is no longer with us. He is the person who would best have tied up all the loose ends of the citizenship debacle and stabbed it with his steely knife. The Kiwi aspect would have been delicious I’d imagine. What a shame (Bleak too – sigh…)

I see The Donald is at 34%……lower than even Bush or Nixon. Can’t even find support amongst his Republicans!
And Bishop J.? Any leadership ambitions she had just went down the tube.

So who is to blame for the fracas with the NZ government – Bishop or Wong?
    Depends which newspaper you open.
I suspect Ms Wong is being a little evasive with the truth though!

Jack my dad was born in England, my mum in France and I was born on a plane on the way to Australia so looks like I am eminently qualified to become an Aussie politician.

Some of the investigative reporters for this organ have discovered that the NY and NJ construction industry had Mob ties. Must have finally watched the Sopranos.

On the topic du jour, is Malcolm T in the clear? His mum has a pommie background, even related to angela Lansbury, moved to and married in NZ, and then moved to the US. MT may unintentionally have triple citizenship, or not.
I figured Barnaby more the duelling banjo type than the duel citizen. A good-un for mine but he has to go so be it.
